Plume-shroom is a mushroom upgrade plant in Plants vs. Zombies: The Final Showdown, functioning as a more powerful version of the Gloom-shroom.

The Plume-shroom fires much more slowly than a Glooom-shroom, but deals substantially more damage with each burst to make up for it. It fires every two seconds but deals 160 DPS with a single burst, equalling the Gloom-shroom's overall damage per second.

Plume-shroom wouldn't be worth it simply for the extra DPS however, as its true power is its ability to stun zombies. Each plume of gas stuns zombies it hits for one second, the same type of stun applied by Chili Bean or Stunion.

This essentially halves the movement or attack speed of zombies, stacks with slowing effects such as Winter Melon or Sap-fling, and deals huge AoE damage at the same time.

It is unlocked by purchasing it from Burt's Bits & Bobs for $20,000, after unlocking Gloom-shroom.

Strategies[]

As Plume-shroom is a high cost upgrade of a high cost plant, the cost and recharge make it very difficult to set up with any speed. However, the AoE and stunning make it well worthwhile, especially combined with Garlic, as with usual Gloom-shrooms. Plume-shrooms can also work inside Pumpkins as a front-line defender, as their stalling effectively boosts the survivability of the Pumpkin.

Black Knightshade is a powerful partner for Plume-shroom, though the short range of both plants makes it difficult to effectively set up. Black Knightshade performs instant-kill attacks against any zombie in its range that's stunned, and Plume-shroom is one of the most consistent ways to stun zombies.

One thing that's worth mentioning though, is that after a zombie recovers from a stun in this game, they are immune to stunning for roughly one second, meaning that Plume-shrooms are perfectly timed to repeatedly stun a zombie as often as possible, and additional Plume-shrooms won't help boost or stack the stun duration. As such, you're better off using regular Gloom-shrooms once you have enough spaces covered by the stunning power of Plume-shrooms.
