Corpse-shroom now exists in an official Plants vs. Zombies game as Zoybean Pod, but didn't when this page was made.

The Corpse-shroom is a mushroom plant in Plants vs. Zombies: The Final Showdown that periodically spawns zombies, only they are hypnotized and as such, fight for you, not against you.

He will grow after every fifth zombie it summons, upgrading from summoning Browncoat zombies to summoning Coneheads and eventually Bucketheads.

He is unlocked after beating Night 13 of Dark Volcano.

Origin[]

His name is a portmanteau of "corpse", referring to the zombies he spawns, and "mushroom", the type of plant this plant is based on.

Appearance[]

A fairly tall mushroom (about the height of a Scaredy-shroom) with a fairly flat grey-green cap and two black dots for eyes, with no visible mouth. Zombies spawn on top of its cap, and walk off of it.

Almanac Entry[]

Corpse-shroom

Spawns hypnotized zombies, and grows over time to grant them helmets.

Special: spawns hypnotized zombies

Spawning rate: every 30 seconds

Plant Food effect: spawns a hypnotized Brickhead Zombie

Sleeps during the day

Corpse-shroom was an evil zombified mushroom, but then Hypno-shroom convinced him that eating brains was not the way, and ever since, Corpse-shroom has been on the lawn, fighting zombies with zombies.

Cost: 125

Recharge: very slow

Plant Food[]

Immediately spawns a Brickhead Zombie to fight for you. Similar to the Hypno-shroom's Plant Food which turns a zombie into a hypnotized Brickhead, and rather mediocre overall.

Strategies[]

Protect them by putting them behind your defensive plants, pretty much anywhere will do as the zombies will eventually walk to your front lines. Due to the long recharge, it's usually a bad idea to attempt getting more than one per row, and it's recommended to use plants that slow or stun zombies to maximize the potential of the Corpse-shroom's zombies. Freeze an enemy with an Iceberg Lettuce for example, and even a hypnotized Browncoat will heavily damage, and likely defeat, the frozen zombie.

Goop-shrooms can be particularly useful, as they reduce the chewing speed of enemy zombies, allowing your hypnotized zombies to survive longer. Try to find ways to separate the hordes up however, as individual hypno zombies don't last long against hordes of regular zombies.

During the day, this plant isn't recommended, as the already moderately high cost goes up because of the requirement of a Coffee Bean, and it's not worth it to get some free hypno zombies.
